The In Need Home Skilling Development Program (ISDP) is a social impact initiative dedicated to uplifting people from the slums of Namuwongo by providing fully sponsored practical skills training. Our goal is simple yet powerful, to help individuals acquire valuable technical skills and earn a living at the same time. This initiative was made possible through funding from the Waldesian Church of Italy.
We offer training in high-demand skills, including: Digital Skills – Basic computer knowledge, online tools, and digital services, Tailoring – Clothing design, stitching, and garment alteration, Hairdressing – Professional grooming and salon techniques and Phone Repair – Diagnostics, repair, and maintenance. Each program is designed to be practical, accessible, and income-focused. ISDP believes that skills are the foundation of independence.
Many of our beneficiaries begin earning during or shortly after training, enabling them to support their families financially, start home-based or small community businesses, and build confidence, dignity, and long-term financial stability.
Our training takes an integrated and holistic approach, combining technical skills with business knowledge, reproductive health education, social empowerment, and group dynamics to ensure wholesome development. In total, 200 youth from the slums of Namuwongo, Kabalagala, Kibuli, and Wabigalo will benefit from this initiative.
Together, we can turn potential into opportunity and transform the lives of unemployed youth in Uganda
