My name is Baligaya Geoffrey am 19 years old. I joined In need Home when I was 6 years old. I did not have a chance of living with my parents. I only knew my mother who also died when I was still young.
At the age of 5, I came to my uncle in Kampala since my mother was also sickly and could not care for me and my sibling. Life at my uncle’s place was also difficult because he was never around since he used to work from out of town. He could only afford to give me 2kgs of maize flour and half kilogram of sugar to take me through all the months he would be away. I had to cook for myself and when I ran short of food before he comes back I would sleep on an empty stomach or the neighbors would come to my rescue at times.
I Joined In Need Home through a volunteer who took me as a needy child. I was put on a feeding program because i was looking malnourished since i was not feeding well. While at In Need Home my life started changing because I was now being given enough food to cook for myself, clothing, and i was also taught how to close the door and wake up early in the morning.
In Need home got me a school, paid the fees and other school requirements. I studied well and managed to complete my Primary Leaving Examinations. When the results came back, I had performed well and still In Need Home got me vocational training school where I did a certificate in Metal Fabrication and Welding. I graduated in 2015.
Am glad that In Need Home got me from that far and am happily employed by Casements where I earn a good salary. I started working in February 2016. I am now independent and looking forward to picking on a child and support him in school just like how In Need Home did it for me.
